Differences between a trailer and an opening of a film

Today I would like to talk breevely what are the main differences between trailers and an opening of a film, as I have explained before in this blog, a trailer is a short promotional film composed of clips showing highlights of the film, this is one way that the producers use to promote their movies, with this people can more or less know what is the film about. on the contray a film opening is shown at the beggining of the film, in there they show the names of the key production and cast members, these tittles are superimposed over a scene, allowing them andthe scene to be viewed. these sequences may help the viewer to built up the story plot or show a crucial moment, building up anticipation and atmosphere.

Film genres

Film genres are identifiable types of films that have similar techniques such as:

• Content
• Settings
• Props
• Stars
• Subject matter
• Structures 
• Mood
• Plot
• Situations
• Narrative events 
• Themes

Types:

Action: Action films usualy include high energy, big budget physical stunts and chases, possibly with rescues, battles, fights, escapes, races against time and crises featuring, often two or more good characters battling the bad guys for pure audience escapism. 

Adventure: Adventure films are exciting stories, with new experiences or exotic locales, very similar to the action film genres.                              

                                                               

Comedy: Comedies are designed to amuse and provoke laughter by exagerating the situation, language, actions, relationships and characters. uses the humor as driving force. they are more likley than other films to fall back on the success and the popularity of an individual star. 

Drama: Are serious presentation or stories with settings or life situations at portray realistic characters in conflict with either themselves,others or forces of nature. A dramatic film shows us human beings at their best, their worst, and everything in-between. Each of the types of subject-matters themes have various kinds of dramatic plots.

Horror genre: Horror film is a genre that aims to create a sense of fear, panic, alarm and dread for the audience. They usually center on the arrival of an evil force, person or event. Many horror films include mythical creatures such as ghosts, vampires or zombies. Thought it has it´s own style, horror films overlaps into fantasy thriller and science fiction genres.  

Epic genre: Epic film is a genre that takes historical events and people and interprets them in a larger scale. Historical accuracy is not the main focus in epics but rather the telling of the grandiose story. The drama of an epic film is often accentuated by a sweeping musical score, lavish costumes and high production value.

 

Musical genre: a musical interweaves vocal and dance performances into the narrative of the film. the songs of a film can either be used to further the story o simply enhance the experience of the audience. These films are often done on a rande scale and corporate lavish costumes. These films explore concepts such as love and success, allowing the adience to escape from reality.

Reflecting back on my AS coursework

My AS coursework went very well, last year I worked with Lucia Segui and Blewes rush, as Lucia left and went to another school, me and blewes will do this year without her. For blewes and I it was really easy meeting up to record the film opening but for Lucia it was much more difficult, she lived in Rota. That is one of the reasons that I chose this year being with blewes in the same team.

• Last year I was really happy with the product itself, it is true that we could hace found better quality euipment to record, but i think that we used all of our abilities to create a fairly realistic opening sequence. 
• I think that last year I could have created more blog posts of the process, including overall planning and production, with this we would have show with more effect our journal through the year and how we got to the final product. 
• Last year we didn´t know how to record completely well, with this i´m refering to angles, shots and sounds, this year we will make it better since we already have an expierence and we know how to manage a problem while recording and more about our equipment. 

Introduction

Hello! My name is Violeta and this is my new blog for A2 media studies. I study in the school sage college, I don´t have much subjects but I´m okay with the ones I chose, these are literature, media studies, biology and travel and tourism.
This year we are only four in the class, so the teams of this year will be of two people each one. The class is composed by ;  Blewes Rush, Candela Goodsell, Blanca Espejo and me. My team mate will be Blewes.
