Our decisions

Blewes and I talked about what type of movie genre are we going to choose for our film trailer, after a long time of meditation we decided to do a drama trailer. It was little bit difficult because Blewes wanted a sci-fiction and I wanted to do a comedy, but we both went to a conclusion which was to do non of them and choose a different one.
We chose the drama/crime genre because every time you see a trailer with tension, suspense and dramatic discussion of characters the audience pay a lot of attention and want to know more about it so they watch the film, this is the feeling that we want to try people feel by watching our film.

Logo reasearch

Film logo's are often seen at the start of a theatrical film, seen as the 'opening logo'. Film logos are used simply to brand what the company has produced - to let the audience, film industry and other film production companies that that film was made by them. Here are some of the most popular film production company logos that I have researched. This will help Blewes and myself when creating our own film logo for our film trailer. We are able to visualise different types of logo; highlighting ones that stand out, ones that are noticeable and ones you will remember. Which is what we hope to gain when creating our own.

Trailer analysis

In this post I will be doing a trailer analysis on the film of The Dark Knight directed by Christopher Nolan in

The trailer starts with extreme high angles shots of the city allowing for an urban location. The batman appears to be the brave protagonist has he jumps from the building in his cape. The scene is filmed at night time and plays heavily on the low key lighting. It then cuts to a black screen with a voiceover "where do we begin". when it comes to create our trailer i want to use black screen with voiceover because it is so simple but it grabs the attention of audience immediately. I have also seen this in other trailers that I have been watching for this project and has the same effects. I also would like to have our main protagonist at the beginning because it means that we can follow him through out the film trailer.
The main section of the trailer is a voiceover form the "joker" who talks about how much the police force have over the crime in the city. it is revealed that he is the bad guy and is talking not to the audience but to other criminals that are with him. it is decided that the should kill Batman who is the saviour of the city. We can realize that bruce and Rachel are in love, but she is already in a relationship. as an audience we want that the true love develops further.
I really like the idea that the relationship between characters are already unfold, because we
immediately feel invested in the lves of the characters.
Sound plays a huge part in creating the tension for the trailer whilst drawing together all the elements. One of the key sound is speech which develops the Narrative of the film using the joker, Batman and Harvey Dent. this voice ove by characters produces the tension between the Batman and the joker whilst showing Harvey Dent is involved in between their rivalry. It also gives the viewers a good idea of the three main characters to help develop the narrative.

Mise En Scene plays a big part in the trailer, especially costumes. Costumes suggest the characters instantly such as the Batman suit and the Jokers purple suit is unique to him. Make up is obvious to make the joker stand out from everyone else however, the set produces more of a connotation due to Gotham which was involved in Batman begins. This is all produces clear separation of the characters along with showing the joker as the main enemy.
The editing is purposely fast paced for most of the trailer, however it does a lot of crops into short term slow pace to create tension and allow the viewer to get drawn into these moments. these slow pace moments meant to be big parts of the plot, For example; when the Joker says "kill the batman" and "here´s my card" or joked to keep the viewer interested such as the psychotic boyfriends and the ending sequence between Alfred and Bruce.
the target audience seems to be really obvious as its got a lot of explosions, action and destruction in the trailer along with fast editing pace so its clearly aimed at action junkies who are young which appeals to a wider age range. However, it does also contain important aspects of other genres such as criminals to try and draw in parts of that audience and romance with Batman so the trailer is effective at trying to draw in an audience from all different genres. Another target audience is people who are interested in superheroes and comics as it is produce by DC comics.

This is used in the film trailer to confirm and inform audience that is suitable for every type of public, with this a mean that it would be okay a kid of 5 years old and an adult of 60 to watch this film in the future.

This is the tittle of the film that will be soon available, in this case of the Dark knight, is accompanie with a type of music to give some enthusiasm to it.
